| Objective:To evaluate the immunohistochemistry expressions of p63and S-100P in the chondroblastomas and giant cell tumor of the bone, giant cell tumor of tendon sheath, aneurysmal bone cyst and its significance in clinicopathological diagnosis. Methods:The specimens involved had been collected from the pathology department of the second affiliated hospital Zhejiang University College of Medicine, including25paraffin-embeded samples of chondroblastomas,52cases of giant cell tumor of the bone,20cases of giant cell tumor of tendon sheath,10cases of aneurysmal bone cyst. The pathological diagnosis of above107cases was confirmed respectively by two senior pathologists. Immunohistochemical staining of p63and S-100P expression was performed in above samples by Maxvision method. The immunohistochemical results were statistically analyzed with chi-square test or Fisher’exact test.Results:Immunohistochemically,88%(22/25) cases of chondroblastomas expressed p63protein in the nucleus of neoplastic mononuclear cells.92.3%(48/52) cases of giant cell tumor of the bone expressed p63in the nucleus of neoplastic mononuclear cells and scatteredly in the nucleus of multinucleated cells. The expressional differences of the P63protein between the chondroblastomas and giant cell tumors of the bone had no statistically significance(P>0.05). But, compared with giant cell tumor of tendon sheath and aneurysmal cyst tumor, the expressional differences of p63protein in chondroblastoma had statistically significance, respectively (p<0.05). Positive rates of S-100P protein in chondroblastomas and giant cell tumor of the bone were92%and3.8%, respectively. The expression difference of S-100P protein between chondroblastomas and giant cell tumor of the bone had statistically significance(P<0.05). Moreover, S-100P was not expressed in giant cell tumor of the tendon sheath and aneurysmal cyst tumor. There was a positive relationship between the expression of P63and S-100P in chondroblastomas (r=0.345).Conclusions:1. P63was over-expressed both in chondroblastomas and giant cell tumor of the bone with the similar immunophenotype, which suggested that the differentiation of the chondroblastomas and giant cell tumor of the bone might arise from the same original cells and neoplastic stem cells. 2ã€Testing the expression of p63and S-100P protein was of great significance to diagnose the chondroblastomas, giant cell tumor of the bone and its correlated lesions.3ã€There was positive correlation between the expression of p63and S-100P protein in the chondroblastomas, indicated that there may be a coordinate action in pathological diagnosis. |
