Background:A large number of studies have shown that smoking and passive smoking may cause serious harm to people’body,smoking and passive smoking is harmful to health is an indisputable fact.Tobacco contains nicotine,tar,smoke,carbon monoxide,benzopyrene(a)and other more than2000kinds of harmful substances.The dangers of passive smoking to people is not lighter than active smoking to people,especially it is very harmful to children.Countries around the world have introduced various measures to increase tobacco control efforts.Some surveys show that passive smoking particularly causes victims to women and children in China,although they do not smoke,but often exposure to second-hand smoke of others at home,and in public places,Henan Province is a big province with many people,the resident population is over94.02million,ranking the third in our country.To survey the tobacco epidemic in Henan Province,and awareness of the dangers of tobacco is meaningful.Objective:(1)To learn the current smoking,passive smoking and smoking cessation situation of residents in Henan Province(2)To learn the residents’attitude to smoking ban in work and public places;(3)To explore the factors that affect smoking;(4)To provide the basis for the development of intervention strategies and lay the foundation for future to assessment the effect of intervention.Results1Smoking2056residents were studied in the survey.There were434smokers(including current smokers and past smokers)and smoking rate is21.11%.There are413current smokers;current smoking rate is20.09%.Smoking rates of male is higher than female.Residents of age from50to69have higher smoking rates than other age groups.Age from15to29is the lowest smoking group.The residents of the junior high school education to the highest smoking rates;production,transport equipment operators and relevant personnel of the highest smoking rates,teachers and students in the lowest smoking rates.Most smokers start smoking when the age of16to25years old,started smoking when79.09%of men and70%of female residents age16to25-year-old,60.88%of smokers smoke more than31years of age;68.82%of the residents daily amount of smoking21-30.2Smoking cessationThe rate of cessation smoking is4.839%.Residents of age from15to29are the least age group trying to quit smoke.Only10.00%people tried to quit smoke.Residents of age from50to69are the most age group trying to quit smoke,and the rate is32.88%.The rate of residents of different cultural levels illiterate residents try to quit is up to50.00%.The residents of the junior high school education are the lowest level of trying to quit smoke,and the rate is17.59%.Residents whose income is less than500are the most trying to quit.And the rate is up to38.04%.The people whose monthly income are from1000to2000are the littlest trying to quit,and the rate is19.51%.3Attitude of ban to indoor smoking and awareness of passive smoking hazardsThere are42.71%of the male residents,and42.64%of female residents do not develop any regulations to allow smoking in their own home indoor or not.There are11.54%of the male residents and16.25%of the female residents forbid any one to smoke at home in the indoor.In the residents of different cultural levels,there are58.33%of illiterate culture residents,49.44%of the primary culture of residents and39.91%of junior middle school education residents did not allow smoking in their own home indoor.11.01%of primary school education residents,and21.79%of tertiary and higher education residents do not allow the home indoor smoking.48.80%of the people who’s monthly income is less than500,and30.00%of the residents who’s monthly income is more than2000residents do not develop any regulations to allow smoking in their own home indoor or not.There are10.13%of the residents who’s monthly income is less than500and25.00%of the residents the residents who’s monthly income is more than2000forbid any one to smoke at home in the indoor. 62.64%of male residents and60.77%of the female residents of know that secondhand smoke is harmful,60.41%of the smokers and61.95%of non-smokers believe that secondhand smoke is harmful.Between residents of different ages,72.15%of the people whose age are15to29,and only50.59%of the people whose age are from50to69believe that secondhand smoke is harmful.Between residents of different education levels,28.43%of the people who are illiterate and semi-literate thought that passive smoking is harmful,and82.05%of residents of tertiary and higher cultural level think that secondhand smoke is harmful.Between residents of different monthly income.48.38%of the people whose income monthly income is less than500,and85.00%of the people whose monthly income are more than2000residents believe that smoking is harmful.4Awareness of the dangers of smoking and attitudes towards smoking ban79.13%of the residents know that smoking can cause serious disease,11.76%of the illiterate,and62.82%of the tertiary and higher education people know that smoking can cause serious disease between different cultural levels.22.05%of the people whose monthly income are less than500and51.59%of the people whose monthly income are from1000to2000know that smoking can cause serious illness.86.79%of the people who have tried to quit smoking know that smoking can cause serious disease,and74.11%of the residents who did not have tried to quit smoking know that smoking can cause serious disease.88.96%,87.01%,73.64%,70.87%,61.87%and56.81%of residents support the complete ban on smoking in hospitals,schools,offices,public transport,restaurants and bars.25.58%of the smokers and39.52%of non-smokers support indoor public places completely smoke free and no smoking room,and22.81%of the smokers and38.10%of non-smokers support the complete ban on smoking in a single room office.Disussion(1)Smoking rates of male residents in Henan Province are still high,the tobacco control work is still grim.(2)The rate of quit smoking is very low.The majority of smokers don’t take any scientific ways to quit smoking.They usually quit smoking by self-restraint.(3)Residents generally know that smoking and passive smoking can cause serious disease,but they are not sufficient know the specific hazards of smoking.(4)Most residents do not support the complete ban on smoking on indoor or outdoor.
