ObjectiveTo detect the expressive levels of vascular endothelial growth factor D(VEGF-D) and D2-40in papillary thyroid carcinoma and discuss the relationship between which and microlymphatic density and distribution in papillary thyroid carcinoma, and to analyze the probable mechanism of cervical lymph node metastasis.MethodsMaking use of immunohistochemistry to research the expression of D2-40and VEGF-D in38cases of papillary thyroid carcinoma following cervical lymph node metastasis and45cases of papillary thyroid carcinoma without cervical lymph node metastasis, with microlymphatic density counted respectively.ResultsThe expressive rate of VEGF-D in papillary thyroid carcinoma following cervical lymph node metastasis and without cervical lymph node metastasis were71.1%and51.1%, respectively, which had no significant difference(p>0.05);The MLD which in papillary thyroid carcinoma following cervical lymph node metastasis in center area and edge area were4.2±2.6and17.5±3.6, respectively, which had significant difference(p<0.05); The MLD which in papillary thyroid carcinoma without cervical lymph node metastasis in center area and edge area were3.9±2.7and11.7±3.5, respectively, which had significant difference(p<0.05). For this reason, the expression of VEGF-D and the MLD in the edge area of papillary thyroid carcinoma had significant correlation with lymph node metastasis.Conclusions1. The abnormal expression of VEGF-D in papillary thyroid carcinoma has correlation with cervical lymph node metastasis, it suggests that the expression of VEGF-D is important in promoting papillary thyroid carcinoma cervical lymph node metastasis.2. The lymphatic vessel appears to be involved in the papillary thyroid carcinoma, it mainly distributes in the papillary thyroid carcinoma borderline. The increase of MLD in the tumor borderline may be related to the cervical lymph node metastasis.3. VEGF-D maybe to abduction the growing of MLD in the papillary thyroid carcinoma borderline, which promoting papillary thyroid carcinoma cervical lymph node metastasis.4. The combined detection of VEGF-D and MLD in the tissue of papillary thyroid carcinoma can be accepted as important affiliated markers to evaluate the cervical lymph node metastasis.
