Object:to investigate the application and therapeutic effect of LCCK of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in knee varus complicated with medial tibia bone defect. Methods:from January2008to January2011,12cases of osteoarthritis with serious knee varus complicated with medial tibia bone defect were retrospectively analyzed. All of the12cases, including3male and9female, with average age of64(from54to76years old) underwent first TKA with ZIMMER’s LCCK. The bone defect in medial side of tibial plateau was non-inclusive, and can be classified as type II and III according to the AORI classification. The average weight-bearing varus angulation before operation is26°(from22°to35°). All patients were followed up and the knee functions were systematically analyzed by using The Knee Society Score, including knee score and knee function score.Result:All the cases have been followed up. Average duration is13month(from6to18month), the preoperational KSS knee score and knee function score were (24.5±4.2),(18.2±5.4)and those after operation are (87.7±5.6),(85.4±8.3) respectively. There are significant differences between KSS knee scores and function scores before and after operation. Conclusion:LCCK total knee arthroplasty is one efficient method in treatment of osteoarthritis with serious knee varus complicated with medial tibia bone defect. Taking specific operation to loose and relieve soft tissues and cut bone properly, choosing metal filler piece and extendible stem prosthesis for the bone defect can transfer biomechanics loads, boost prosthesis stability, and obtain good results.
