Objective:1. Discuss the relationship between polymorphism of ABCA1genes I883M, R219K and total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotine cholesterol (HDL-C), low density liporotine cholesterol (LDL-C), lipoprotein A (LPA) levels of carotid atherosclerosis patients.2. Discuss the relationship between polyjorphism of ABCA1genes I883M, R219K and onset risk of carotid stable plaque, mulnerable plaque. Methods:Information of eligible schemic cerebrovascular patients who were hospitalized in our neurology ward during July2009to July2010were collected consecutively. Acoording to carotid ultrasound examination results, these patients were divided into stable plaque group, vulnerable plaque group and control group. PCR-RFLP was used to detect polymorphism of ABCA1genes I883M, R219K of all patients of three groups. Relationship of blood lipid level and onset risk of carotid plaque was analyzed.Results:1. Among all the subjects included in this study, there is no significant statistical difference (P>0.05) of blood lipid level and LPA is found between different I883M genotypes; there is no significant statistical difference of blood lipid level is found between M allele and non-M allele carriers of carotid atherosclerosis patients; after adjustment for age, sex, and blood lipid level and other influencing factors, there is no significant statistical difference of distribution of MM genotype and MI+II genotype among these three groups is found (P>0.05).2. Among male carotid atherosclerosis patients, there is no significant statistical difference of blood lipid level and LPA is found between different R219K genotypes (P>0.05), but among female patients, HDL-C level of KK genetype patients is higher than that of RR genotype patients (P=0.043), after adjustment for age, sex, blood lipid level, blood pressure value and other influencing factors, there is no significant statistical difference of distribution of R219K genotypes among these three groups is found (P>0.05).Conclusions:1. The polymorphism of ABCA1genes I883M has no connection with the blood lipid level and LPA of carotid atherosclerosis patients. The polymorphism of R219K genes might affect the HDL-C level of female atherosclerosis patients, but has no influence on the blood lipid level of carotid atherosclerosis patients.2. The polymorphism of ABCA1genes I883M and R219K has nothing to do with onset risk of carotid stable plaque and vulnerable plaque.
