Many diversities had been found between nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) and other tumors in epidemiology, histological type, biologicalbehavior and treatment. It was not appropriate to make a surgical operationbecause of the operation exposure, invasively attack with irregular shape andmany significant surrounding organs. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma withspecial histological type was highly responsive to both chemotherapy andradiotherapy. Therefore, the comprehensive treatment, includingradiotherapy, chemotherapy and molecular targeted therapy has beengenerally accepted as the standard treatment for nasopharyngeal carcinoma.Contrast to the early stage patients, locally advanced nasopharyngealcarcinoma (LA-NPC), with extensive local infiltration and regional lymphnode metastasis, had high level of recurrence and metastasis rate. UltimatelyLA-NPC led to unsatisfied treatment effect which means decreased survivalrate and patient’s poor quality of life (QOL). Thus how to improve thecomprehensive treatment’s therapeutic effect is still under clinical studies.
