Objective:Through investigating the quality of life and pattern ofdietary and their effected factors of people who was born in famine years(1959-1961) in Chongqing, to provide basic data to deeper research onthe impact of experiences of famine in people’s early lives to their qualityof life and pattern of dietary in their adult life. As a result, we can find aeffective way to improve the quality of life through a reasonable diet for thespecific people.Methods: We conducted a quantitative study to take a stratifiedmultistage random sample of people with ability of understanding who wereborned in1956-1964in Chongqing. People who were born in1956-1958were G1group; people who were born in1959-1961were G2group, peoplewho were born in1962-1964were G3group.We used the SF-36health survey scale to take the health questionnaireand food frequency table with face to face. we got available questionnaire1107(there were295people in G1,315people in G2,497people in G3).Entry questionnaire double times from Epidata software, we use t-test,variance analysis chi-square test,multiple stepwise regression and stepwiselogistic regression by SAS8.0software for statistical analysis.Results:The scores of group G2on role physical, vitality, role emotional and mental health dimension are lower than group G1;The scores on body painand general health are higher than group G1(p<0.05).The scores of groupG2on physical functions, physical functioning, role emotional dimensionare lower than group G3;The scores of on body pain are higher than groupG3(p<0.05).With the aspect of quality of life, the scores of group G2on vitality,roleemotional dimension from men are lower than G1, while the scores of bodilypain dimension are higher than group G3(p<0.05).The scores of G2onphysical functionding and role emotional dimension from men are lowerthan G3, while the scores on bodily pain dimension are higher than group G3(p <0.05). The scores of role emotional dimension from women are lowerthan group G1(p<0.05), while in vitality dimension are higher than groupG3(p<0.05). The comparison of scores on the quality of life betweendifferent genders:the scores of body pain dimension of male people arehigher than female people(p<0.05).From those above, we found that the main impacted factors of the scoresof the quality of life is education, marriage, work, exercise, appetite,relationship of family and colleagues, job satisfaction and life satisfactionwith a univariate analysis. Education, appetite and relationship of family arethe most important influencing factors of the people who were born in thefamine years in Chongqing with a multivariate analysis. In addition, Gender,marital status, income, and job satisfaction affected the scores of differentdimensions of life quality respectively.The scores of group G2on frequency of consumption fish are lowerthan the other2groups; on frequency of consumption beans, bean products,poultry, milk, nuts are higher than G3,lower than G1; on frequency ofconsumption animal offal, fresh fruits are higher than G1,lower than G3. The scores of group G2on frequency of consumption eggs are higher thanthe other2groups(the difference has no statistically significant(p<0.05).The main influencing factors of consumption food frequency wereeducation background, the average monthly income, smoking, exercise,appetite and satisfaction of job(p<0.05)when we did a further study in thedietary pattern of group G2.Conclusions:Embryo malnutrition (people who were born in famine years) have aspecific impact to the quality of life of adult people. Among those,education background, appetite and the relationship of family are the mostimportant impacted factors.The pattern of dietary of people who were born in famine years has nodifference of the other2groups, and the most important impacted factors oftheir dietary habits are economy, culture, life style, appetite and satisfactionof job.
