Objective:To investigate knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of high-school students forhuman papillomavirus(HPV) infection in Xiangtan city of Hunan province, and tostudy influencing factors of high-school students’ Knowledge, Attitudes andBehaviors (KAP) of HPV infection. To provide the scientific experiment basis forhealth education of HPV infection and cervical cancer in high schools, theintervention effects of health education of HPV infection on high-school studentswere analyzed. Methods:On the basis of KAP theory, a questionnaire of knowledge, attitudes andbehaviors of high-school students for HPV infection was designed. A total of848students, who were from a high-school in Xiangtan city, were questioned using thequestionnaire. The current status of knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of the studentsfor HPV infection were studied with cross-sectional way. The main influences on theirknowledge, attitudes and behaviors of HPV infection were analyzed by the T test, thesingle factor analysis of variance and multi-factor linear regression analysis. Onehundred twenty students were randomly evently divided into two groups as theintervention group and the control group. The interventions of KAP of HPV infectionwere designed and utilized to analyze the factors which influenced high-schoolstudents’ KAP by the parallel control design. Repeated measures analysis of variancewas used to assesse the effects of KAP intervention of HPV infection on the studentswere compared before and after the intervention between the control group and theintervention group. Results:(1) Of848students, the average KAP scores of HPV infection were51.89士5.71.Among86students(10.1%) who had ever heard HPV infection, their total scores ofknowledge were9.23±4.17, their scores of basic knowledge, precaution and riskfactors were2.34±1.97,3.14±1.67and3.76±2.32,respectively; the average scores oftheir attitudes were31.7(23-41); the average scores of their behaviors were19.18(13-24).(2) Among the students, the more their ages were, the more their scores of knowledgeof HPV infection were, but the less their scores of behaviors were; there werestatistically significant among the different age groups. The scores of knowledge andattitudes of HPV infection of the female students were obviously higher than those ofthe male students(P<0.01). The total scores of knowledge, the scores of knowledgeand attitudes of HPV infection of the students who lived in city or town weresignificantly higher than those who lived in the rural regions (P<0.01). The totalscores of KAP and scores of knowledge and attitudes increased significantly with thegrade increments (P<0.05). The scores of knowledge and attitudes increasedsignificantly with the educational level increments of their parents (P<0.01). Thescores of knowledge of the students who had had sexual behaviors were obviouslyhigher than those who hadn’t, but their scores of attitudes and behaviors wereobviously lower(P<0.01). The total scores of KAP and the scores of attitudes andbehaviors of the students who had had multiple sexual partners were significantlylower than those who hadn’t(P<0.01).(3)Before intervention, there were not significant difference in both demographic dataand HPV KAP scores between the intervention group and the control group. After oneand three months of intervention, the total scores or the scores of dimensions werestatistically significant difference by intervention and time effects(P<0.01). There wasinteraction in the intervention and time effects.Conclusions:(1)The total scores of HPV infection KAP of high-school students are in the middle and lower level.(2)HPV infection KAP of high-school students is mainly impacted by gender, academic achievement, home address, sexual promiscuity, and etc.(3)Intervention of the health education of HPV infection based on KAP theory onhigh-school students can effectively improve their HPV infection KAP.
