ObjectiveTo establish therapeutic mechanism and effects of Qi boosting, Yin nourishing, activating Blood circulation and toxin resolving method on radiation pneumonitis.Methods96male C57rats were divided randomly into blank control group(A),radiation model group(B), dexamethasone therapy group(C) and Chinese medicine therapy group(D). Among all the groups, rats in A group were raised regularly, while B,C and D group were exposed to6mv-X ray(600Gy once).C group were treated by injecting dexamethasone after X ray exposure, while B and D group were feeded by Chinese medicine and water separately with intragastric administration one week before and after the X ray exposure. At the end of the2ed,4th and8th weekend, chose8rats radomly in every group to be executed, and tested the serum level of TGF-β1Smad3、Smad4、Smad7、CTGF, meanwhile getting the lung to observe the pathologic changes dynamicly.ResultsThe levels of TGF-β1、Smad3、Smad4and CTGF in serum of rats of group B increased significantly when compared with group A, while the level of Smad7decreased significantly(p<0.05); inflammation and fibrosis were observed in pathology of lungs. Compared with group B, the serum levels of TGF-β1、Smad3、 Smad4、and CTGF in group C and D significant decreased (p<0.05),while the level of Smad7increased significantly(p<0.05); observations in pathology showed slighter inflammation and fibrosis. But there were no statistic difference when compared the level of serum cytokines and pathology with those of group A(p>0.05). ConclusionAnimal experiment shows that Qi boosting, Yin nourishing, Blood qui cke ning and toxin resolving method can inhibit TGF-β/Smad pathway and decrease the level of CTGF in radiation pneumonitis, and shows certain therapeutic function to radiation pneumonitis.
