Purpose To investigate the expression of KLF6-SV1which is a splice variant of thetumor suppressor gene KLF6in none small cell lung cancer and evaluate therelationship to clinical pathologic futures. Methods Immunohistochemical method was adopted to detect the expression ofKLF6-SV1protein in42cases of NSCLC and40cases of benign disease of the lung.In situ hybridization was adopted to detect the expression of KLF6-SV1on themRNA level in42cases of NSCLC and40cases of benign disease of the lung. Results The positive expression of KLF6-SV1was71.4%(30/42)which is higherthan that in the benign disease of the lung(P<0.05). The positive expression ofKLF6-SV1on mRNA level was69.0%(29/42)which is higher than that in the benigndisease of the lung(P<0.05).The expression of KLF6-SV1on protein level wascoincidence with that on the mRNA level. KLF6-SV1expression level in poorlydifferentiated tissues or with a metastasis of lymph nodes is higher than that in welldifferentiated ones or without a metastasis of lymph nodes. No statistical differenceswere observed for KLF6-SV1expression level in different histological types、thesize of the tumors as well as the different clinical stages(P>0.05).Conclusions The over expression of KLF6-SV1is significantly involved in thecarcinogenesis、progression and metastasis of lymph nodes of the earlier stage inNSCLC and hopeful to become one of the diagnosis and prognostic indicators of thetumor. It will also provide a new target for the gene therapy of the tumor.
