Objective: To analyze the spatial distribution, characteristics of axon and timecharacteristics of glial scar in the rat spinal cord after experimental injury. Methods:100adult male SD rats were divided into the control group, the24hour group,the72hoursgroup,the5th day group, the1st week group, the2nd week group, the4week group, the6week group, the8week group,the10week and the12W group by random. Using Allen’sweight-drop injury to set SCI model expect the control group. Pathological study includedhematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining, immunofluorescence double staining for glialfibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and neurofilament (NF-200). Results: At4weeks postSCI, glial scar and smooth cavity wall came into being. No astrocytes and axon existinside the cavity. Conclusion: The glial scar begun to stabilize at4weeks post SCI, andmechanical barriers between the cavity and axon came to being. Thickness of the glial scarno more increase at10weeks post SCI.
