[Objective]To compare the clinical results of microendoscopydiscectomy with conventional discectomy in treating disc hernitiation inthe adolscents.[Method]With the methods of retrospective study theclinical statistics,65adolescent patients with lumber disc hernitiationwere randomly divided into two groups, one which had32patients werethe group of observation with MED and the other were the controlledgroup with conventional discectomy. We evaluated the results by themethod of Nakai[1],and also,by6factors,including the operation time, theblood loss, whether to have anodyne, the time out of bed, postoperativehospital stay time and the time of return to previous sport level.[Result]All cases were followed up for6months~11years,the improvement ofMED scores was93.3%,compared with90.0%in the other group.Butthere was significant difference in statistics about the6factors betweenthe two groups [.Conclusion]The clinical results were nearly same withthe two methods. But compared with conventional discectomy, MED can reduce trauma to the tissue, the blood loss in operation, operationtime, using anodyne, the time out of bed after operation, thepost-operative hospital stay time and the time of return to previous sport, and shows more stability to the spinal vertebrae. The MED operationalsystem treating the lumbar disc herniation in the adolescents is an idealsurgical operating method.
