Objective:To evaluate the effect of autologous peripheral bloodstem cell tansplantation (APBSCT) on multiple myeloma. Methods:Eighteen cases with multiple myeloma receiving APBSCTwere included from2006to October2011.Combined chemotherapyfollowed by G-CSF was used for mobilization regimen. APBSC werecollected when white blood cell (WBC)>5.0×109/L.The conditioningregimen was melphalan. Results:All patients were engrafted and gained rapid hematopoieticreconstitution.Of the patients with a follow up time of3~60months,thirtheen patients achieved complete remission (CR),six patients relapsedlater. One of the relapsed patient got CR again after three courses ofBortezomib. One patient got VGPR after second APBSCT.Conclusion:APBSCT is a safe and efficient therapy for multiplemyeloma and tolerated wel1.Consolidate maintenance treatment afterAPBSCT can prolonged event free survival and overall survival. Bortezomib combined with APBSCT is an effective treatment forrefratory/relapsed multiple myeloma especially with renal failure. Doubletransplantation is better than single transplantation.
