Objective To Evaluate the effect of orthotopic neobladderreconstruction surgery after radical cystectomy for invasive bladder cancerwith stomach, ileum, or sigmoid. Methods We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of the60patients accepted radical cystectomy and reconstruction of lower urinarytract using orthotopic neobladder from2005to2010in our institute, amongwhom14patients were reconstructed with stomach (stomach group),27patients with Ileum (ileum group), and19patients with sigmoid (sigmoidgroup). Three groups were compared in operative time, intraoperativeblood loss, postoperative hospital day, time for postoperativegastrointestinal function recovery, as well as short-term complication rate. Results operative time: stomach group is longest, ileum group islonger than sigmoid group (P﹤0.05). Blood loss: the stomach was obvious more than the ileum group and sigmoid group(P﹤0.05), but there was nodifference between ileum and sigmoid in statistics. postoperative hospitalday: the ileum was obvious more than stomach and sigmoid(P﹤0.05), butthere was no difference between stomach and sigmoid in statistics. Thetime for gastrointestinal function recovery in ileum group was less thanstomach and sigmoid (P﹤0.05), but there was no difference betweenstomach and sigmoid in statistics. Incidence of complications is lowest instomach, and sigmoid group is lower than ileum. Conclusion Comparing with ileal and sigmoid neobladder, althoughstomach group takes longer operative time and causes more intraoperativeblood loss, fewer postoperative complications is observed. Compared withthe ileum group, sigmoid group takes shorter operative time, shorterpostoperative hospital recovery time and causes relatively lowercomplication.
