Objective:To establish a sound way evaluating the speech of Xinjiang Uyghuroperated patients with cleft palate by vowel formants. Methods: The formantfrequency of Uygur vowels/a,,o,u,,y,e,i/in normal children and postoperativepatients was measured and analyzed in27cases of case group and32cases of controlgroup by Praat software. Results:The mean value of F2of/a,o,u/did not showsignificant difference among the two groups (P>0·05).The difference of mean value ofF2of/y,i,e,,/was significant between control group and postoperative patientsgroup (P<0·05). The mean value of F1of/a,,o,u,,y,e,i/did not show significantdifference among the two groups (P>0·05). Conclusion:Tongue retraction can beobserved in xinjiang Uyghur operated patients with cleft palate. There was nosignificant difference between case group and the control group in mouth opening.The formant of Uyghur Vowels have high validity and sensitivity to assess the tongueretraction and mouth opening in xinjiang patients with cleft palate. |
