Objective: The most important functions of vitamin D is to maintain the balance of thehuman calcium metabolism, in recent years many animals experiments and clinical studiesreveal the negative relationship between vitamin D deficiency and blood pressure and thatthe supplementation of vitamin D can reduce blood pressure. To provide a basis forclinical treatment by a systematic reviews of the impact of vitamin D supplementation onblood pressure. Methods: Such databases as The Cochrane Libtary, PubMed, Embase,CNKI and Wan Fang Data were searched from the date of their establishment to August,2011, as well as relevant review papers and references. Randomized controlled trials aboutvitamin D supplementation on blood pressure were collected, then the quality of theincluded literature was assessed by the Jadad quality assessment, extract valid data andmeta-analysis was performed by RevMan5.0software. Results: A total of8articles wereincluded, contains907participants met the study inclusion criteria. With Jadad scales,7trials scored4~7and only one less than4.Meta analysis results: Compared with placebo, effection of vitamin D on systolic or diastolic blood pressure showed no significant effect. Conclusion: Base on current research evidence, compared with placebo vitamin Dsupplementation is no significant change in systolic or diastolic blood pressure. To obtainmore reliable conclusions, carrying out more rigorous design, large sample, multi-centerRandomized controlled trials to verify and supplement is necessary.
