Objective To summarize the relationship between clinical manifestationand pathological features of children with lupus nephritis (LN) for helping thediagnosis and treatment of LN.Methods Retrospective analysis of the clinical and pathological data of57children had undergone renal biopsy diagnosed as LN, from January2005toDecember2010in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University. The LN were classified according to the standards of2003WHO classification.Results⑴There were14males and43females in the group, the ratio ofmales to female was1:3.07. Their age very from6~15(mean12±2.64) yearswhen diagnosisd.⑵The initial symptoms were renal’s symptoms in37cases(65.5%), clinical types were common in NS type was28cases (49.1%), IH/Ptype was15cases (26.3%), AGN type was8cases (14%). All extrarenalsymptoms were mainly constituted by butterflyerythema (57.9%), fever (56.1%),arthralgia (36.8%), photosensitive (21.1%). Laboratory examinations includedANA positive (94.7%), hypocomplementemia (91.2%), anemia (80.7%),Anti-dsDNA positive (75.4%), IgG hyperglobulinemia (49.1%), electrolytedisturbance (45.6%).⑶Pathological classification: common in class Ⅳ was32cases (56.1%), class Ⅱ was11cases (19.3%), classes Ⅲ, Ⅴ, Ⅴ+Ⅲ and Ⅴ+Ⅳ were3cases (5.3%) respectively, class Ⅰwas2cases (3.5%), with no cases ofclass Ⅵ.⑷78.6%of the children with clinical type NS LN were featured withclass IV. There was multiplicity of the pathological features of the11childrenwith the type IH/P. Other68.8%class Ⅳ was NS type.⑸Related analysis:therewere no significant relevance between pathological classification and clinicalclassification, the same as pathological classification between extrarenalsymptoms and laboratory examinations. Conclusions The clinical manifestations and pathological classificationof the children with LN were various. Clinical classifications of LN werecommon in type NS and type IH/P, its pathological classifications were commonin class Ⅳ. There was a certain relevance between the clinical classification andpathological classification, but not one-to-one corresponding relationship.
