| Purpose: To observe the effect of combined manual small incision cataractsurgery and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation and vitrectomy in treatingvitreoretinal diseases with cataract.Methods:51eyes of vitreoretinal diseases with cataract were analysedretrospectively. All cases were received manual small incision cataract surgery andvitrectomy.21eyes were received intraocular lens implantation at the same time.Thevisual acuity before and after operation, the complication of intraoperation andpostoperation were observed. Results: The visual acuity improved postoperatively in30eyes (58.82%),IOLwere implanted in21eyes and the visual acuity improved in14eyes(66.67%).Intraoperative complications included corneal epithelial edema in1eye(1.96%),iatrogenic retinal break in2eyes(3.92%),fundus hemorrhage in1eye(1.96%),posterior capsule breakage in1eye(1.96%). Posteroperativecomplications included coneal edema in24eyes(47.06%),anterior chamber fibrinexudation in18eyes(35.29%),exudative lemma of the pupil in4eyes(7.84%),posterior synechia of the iris in4eyes(7.84%), transient intraocularpressure increase in7eyes(13.73%),hyphema in5eyes(9.80%),glaucoma in3eyes(5.88%).Conclusion: Combined manual small incision cataract surgery, IOL implantation and vitrectomy treating vitroretinal diseases with cataract is safe andeffective in selected patients. The main cause to the failed recovery of visual acuityare the severity of retinopathy and eye injury. Therefore the key of successful surgeryare choosing suitable patients and operating skillfully and carefully by surgeons. |
