| ObjectiveThe purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of enteral nutrition with coix seed on the function of intestine mucosal barrier in stroke patients, and to estimate the nutrition status of the patients. To proclaim the enteral nutrition with coix seed may prevent and treat to the function of intestine mucosal barrier in stroke patients. The result will provide the reference of nutritional and clinical treatment.MethodsThe patients were lived in acupuncture department during2010.11~2011.3, they had similar pathogenetic condition and diagnostic criteria. They were selected as subjects according to diagnostic criteria of fourth period cerebrovascular disease of Chinese in1995except for primary brain subarachnoid hemorrhage. The subjects were randomly divided into2groups:enteral nutrition group (control group), enteral nutrition with coix seed addition group (reseach group). Each group was20members. The FPG, plasma protein, urea nitrogen, creatinine hemoglobin, white blood cell, superoxide dismutase, malondialdehyde, intestinal canal permeability, shape and properties of stool and somatometric measurement were determined and compared each other.Result1The basic dataThe difference of height, weight, BMI and sex had no statistics meaning (P>0.05).2The serum makers(1) Plasma protein The difference of research group serum albumin levels before and after treatment was statistically significant (P<0.05). The differences of the serum total protein level in both groups before and after treatment were not statistically significant (P>0.05).(2) The differences of the FPG, urea nitrogen, creatinine hemoglobin and white blood cell before and after treatment had no statistics meaning (P>0.05).3Comparison of antioxidant index The SOD and MDA of the research group before and after treatment both had significant difference.(P<0.05)4Comparison of intestinal canal permeabilityThe Lactulose/mannitol between two groups before treatment had significant differences (P<0.05), and The Lactulose/mannitol of research group had significant differences before and after treatment (P<0.05)5The comparison of anthropometric measurementsStatistical analysis indicated that there were no differences in WCã€AMC and TSF between two groups before and after treatment (P>0.05).6The comparison of shape and properties of stoolThere were no differences in diarrhea between two groups before and after treatment through x2test (P>0.05). But according to Brustol’s classification of stool, the research group had significant differences before and after treatment (P<0.01)Conclusion1ã€Enteral nutrition of joined coix seed could improve the nutritional status of stroke patient after nutritional treatment, serum albumin level increased.2ã€The oxidation resistance of stroke patients was improved after enteral nutrition of joined coix seed.3ã€Enteral nutrition of joined coix seed could drop intestinal mucosal permeability and protect the function of intestine mucosal barrier in stroke patient, and diarrhea symptom got better.4ã€Enteral nutrition of joined coix seed was... |
