ObjectiveTo observe the effect of resveratrol on airway inflammation and induciblenitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in asthmatic rats.MethodsForty SD rats were randomly divided into4groups (10in each): normalcontrol group (group A), asthmatic model group (group B), dexmaethasonegroup (group C) and resveratrol group (group D). The asthmatic models of ratswere established by sensitized and challenged with OVA and Al(OH)3. The levelof NO in serum was detected by using nitric acid reduction method. Hem-atoxylin-eosin (HE) staining was used to observe the pathologic histology oflung tissue. The expression of NF-κB in lung tissue was measured with western-blot and immunohistochemistry, iNOS in lung tissue was also detected withimmunohistochemical techniques.ResultsCompared with group A, smooth muscle, the inflammatory cells in airwaywere severe in group B. The level of NO in serum, NF-κB and iNOS in lungtissue were highter in group B than those in group A (P <0.05). Compared withgroup B, smooth muscle significantly, the inflammatory cells in airway reducedin group C and group D. Immunohistochemical shows, the NF-κB and iNOSexpression in group C and group D was decreased, compared with group B, thedifference was significant(P <0.05), but failed to reach normal levels. ConclusionsResveratrol could reduce the airway inflammation cell, blood vessels andsmooth muscle of tracheal proliferation, also could inhibit the expression ofNF-κB and iNOS in lung tissue and decrease the level of NO in serum in asthmarats. Indicating that resveratrol could reduce the recruitment of inflammationcells through inhibiting the expression of NO in serum, NF-κB and iNOS in lungtissue, which could ameliorate the airway inflammation.
