| Objective:This survey is designed to assess health literacy level and the relationship among health literacy inner structures in Yuhang district and explore the related factors that influenced health literacy level. Furthermore, we wanted to discover whether that health literacy influence behaviors and diseases, in order to provide evidence for further action.Methods:The questionnaire survey was conducted among1623residents by multi-stage cluster sampling in Yuhang District. The contexts concluded health literacy, behaviors and disease status. We used Epidata3.1to establish a database, percentage method and comprehensive method score was chose to describer health literacy level, χ2test was chose to compare demographic factors that affected health literacy and how different health literacy levels affected behaviors and diseases, logistic stepwise regression was used to filter the main factors affecting the health literacy, hierarchical regression analysis was used to explore the relationships among health literacy inner structures.Results:(1) The prevalence of health literacy among residents in Yuhang district was25.51%, with the basic knowledge level, the health lifestyle level and basic skills level was41.22%,15.22%,36.91%, respectively. The scientific views of health literacy, infectious diseases prevention health literacy, chronic disease prevention health literacy, safety&first aid health literacy, as well as basic medical health literacy was44.42%,39.99%,21.69%,66.17%and11.52%, respectively.(2) Multivariate logistic regression showed:education was a very important factors, different education levels affected overall health literacy, the three aspects of health literacy, as well as five health problems health literacy; careers affected the overall health literacy, the three aspects of health literacy, scientific views of health and safety&first aid health literacy; age levels affected overall health literacy, basic knowledge&concepts health literacy, basic skills health literacy and chronic diseases health literacy; genders affected safety&first aid health literacy and basic medical health literacy; the regions affected infectious diseases health literacy as well as safety &first aid health literacy; family resident population affected the overall health literacy; income levels affected scientific views of health literacy.(3) Health skills made a mediating effect between basic knowledge&concepts health literacy and health lifestyle&behavior health literacy, with the effect of45.32%proportion to total.(4) Different health literacy levels associated smoking and salt habits, as well as hypertention and obesity. People with high health literacy level had small smoking comprehensive index, less salt habits, less hypertension prevalence rate and obesity prevalence rate.Conclusion:(1) The overall health literacy level of residents in Yuhang district was good, but the threes aspects of health literacy and the five health problems health literacy levels were not balanced. So we should pay more attention in the weak links-chronic diseases health literacy, basic medical health literacy and health lifestyle&behavior literacy when we make comprehensive health publicity.(2) Among the three aspects of health literacy, health knowledge health literacy affected health lifestyle&behavior health literacy could through health skills health literacy. Therefore, we should care about the health skills when we disseminated health knowledge.(3) Education levels, age levels, genders, occupations, regions, household resident population and income levels affected health literacy, especially the education indicators. Nowadays, chronic diseases was a serious problems in public health, the middle-aged people had lower health literacy, so an effectives measure should be made to improve the middle-aged people’s health literacy. Moreover, the rural people with lower health literacy should be continued to increase health education and health promotion actions in order to improve their health literacy level.(4) Different health literacy levels affected people’s health behavior and health outcomes. So we should improve health literacy to prevent disease. |
