Objective: To observe the efficacy of five recombinant humanerythropoietin induced pure red cell aplasia (PRCA) patients treated withhormone/cyclosporine.Methodology: From April,2008to April,2011,five patients with PRCAwere found in the hemodialysis center,Second Hospital of JilinUniversity. Their clinical data were collected and analysed, includinghormonal/cyclosporine treatment, medication and clinical efficacy. Results: Two of the five cases were effective with the adequate amountof hormone therapy alone, other two ineffective cases were improvedafter the addition of cyclosporine with the moderate doses hormone. Afterreapplying erythropoietin, those four patients’ hemoglobin rose to thenormal level. In the above following8months,the four patients were notrecrudescent. Another case (case5) were treated with hormones45mg/day, valid for three months after application. Then switched tocyclosporine, anemia has been improved. In the following days, thepatient’s hemoglobin maintained at70-80g/L without erythropoietin. Conclusion: Adequate amount of hormone was effective in part of thePRCA patients. Part of the void improved after the addition of cyclosporine. We can reapply erythropoietin to improve anemia in thestable period of the disease.
