Objective: Permanent or persistent atrial fibrillation patients with cardiacorganic disease underwent bipolar radiofrequency ablation modified Maze IIIwith open-heart operation. We observed each group of sinus rhythm conversionrate by two types of treatment strategy of amiodarone.Materials and Methods:105patients with Permanent or persistentatrial fibrillation and cardiac organic disease accepted bipolar radiofrequencyablation maze III in our hospital from May2009to December2010. Wedivided them into two parts of group A and B according to the differentamiodarone treatment for postoperative. There is52patients for group A whowere hospitalized during May,2005to December2008. There is53patients forgroup B who were hospitalized during May,2005to December2008. Weconclude the early and long-term Sinus rhythm conversion ratepostoperatively,by the regularly ECG examination. Results:The atrial fibrillation recurrence rate of group A in the hospitalperiod is higher than that of group B.In the early period (1-3months) aftercardiac surgery, the conversion rate of group A was about70-80%lower thanthat of group B.6month after operation, the conversion rate of group Agradually grewed up to80-90%and stayed around it.But conversion rate ofgroup B basically unchanged. The first2-3days after operation was supposedas the higher Af recurrent period. Conclusion: Bipolar radiofrequency ablation modified Cox-Maze Ⅲsurgery is a safe and effective treatment for permanent and persistent atrialfibrillation patients, but early postoperative period (in3days after procedure) exist higher recurrence rate of atrial fibrillation. The immediate postoperativeamiodarone intervention treatment (group B) can decline the recurrence rate ofatrial fibrillation in early period. The duration of atrial fibrillation andpreoperative left atrial diameter size are the relative risk factors of bipolarradiofrequency ablation modified Maze Ⅲ.We need much more deepdiscussion for the amiodarone intervention treatment strategy after bipolarradiofrequency ablation modified Cox-Maze Ⅲ.
