The hemiplegia is a Medical problem for the patients in the rehabilitation phase. Effective rehabilitation methods and using appropriate rehabilitation equipment is the key to solve this problem. But the methods research and the design of rehabilitation equipment are are relatively backward. In order to provide better rehabilitation to patients with hemiplegia, the content of this study is hemiplegia rehabilitation methods and rehabilitation equipment of upper limb. This study includes the following sections:(1) Research the intrinsic link about the nerve repair process with the hemiplegia rehabilitation mechanisms. A set of hemiplegia rehabilitation methods which are base on neurological rehabilitation theory and clinical rehabilitation are proposed. Those rehabilitation methods are the method of superimposing multiple signal, the method of intermittent drafting joints and aerobic training. We will prove those rehabilitation methods are Effective for Patients at each stage of the rehabilitation.(2) We will design a multi-DOF rehabilitation instrument for upper limb according the method of superimposing multiple signal. The multi-DOF rehabilitation instrument for upper limb is mainly used to induce autonomic muscle contraction for the patients in flaccid paralysis. The functions of the multi-DOF rehabilitation instrument for upper limb include Single-joint movement and multi-joint linkage. In addition, each function must take into account the physiological characteristics of joints and Chinese people’s characteristics of limb length.(3)We will design the rehabilitation instrument for wrist according the method of intermittent drafting joints and aerobic training. It include two sets of equipment:one is used to train rotation function of the wrist and the other is used to train flexion and extension function of the wrist. In order to meet the rehabilitation needs of the spasm and recovery phases, two rehabilitation instruments have three rehabilitation mode:passiveness motion mode, resistance motion mode and assistant motion mode. The resistance motion mode and the assistant motion mode are achieved by using a magnetic particle clutch. In addition, the rehabilitation evaluation system of rehabilitation instrument which is according to the modified Ashworth scale is designed.(4) We will design the software system of the rehabilitation instrument, including the use of the LCD screen and MCU. (5) Observing the clinical effect of the rehabilitation instrument. We found that the rehabilitation instrument can induce muscle contraction, relieve the muscle spasticity and speed up the recovery of muscle strength.Through the research, the proposed three rehabilitation methods are suitable for treatment of hemiplegia rehabilitation. Rehabilitation instrument for upper limb which are based on three methods achieve the desired effect. Rehabilitation instrument for upper limb can instead physician and are suitable for use in all types of rehabilitation occasions.
