Paraquat is the available herbicides, due to the lack of specific antidote, comprehensive report at home and abroad poisoning mortality rate20%~80%, the leading causes of death in patients with paraquat is multiple organ dysfunction syndrome and rapid development of pulmonary fibrosis. At home and abroad study about the mechanism of lung injury and pulmonary fibrosis after paraquat poisoning is consistent, but is still not completely clear. May be related to mechanisms of oxidative damage, alveolar injury, inflammatory response, cytokine network, connective tissue hyperplasia, protease imbalances, abnormal gene expression, calcium overload and so on. In the past for the treatment of paraquat poisoning is given priority to reduce toxin absorption and increase the clearance, but the effect is not good. In recent years, along with the biomolecular technology continues to mature and the development of genetics, many scholars to explore new means and new technologies on treatment of paraquat poisoning, but most are still at the experimental stage. Therefore, further explore the mechanism of pulmonary fibrosis induced by paraquat poisoning and to find effective treatment, has become a hot research at home and abroad about treatment of paraquat poisoning. This paper in order to generalize the research progress on the mechanism and treatment of pulmonary fibrosis induced acute paraquat poisoning are reviewed.
