The plant of Ajania salicifolia belongs to genus Ajania family Compositae tribe Anthemideae and subtribe Chrysantheminae. The most species of this genus are mainly distributed in the north and southwest of China. A few kinds also appeare in some places of the world, such as Mongolia, the former Soviet Union, the north of Afghanistan and North Korea. Many species of Ajania have long been used as Chinese traditional medicine for the treatment of calming, clearing heat and detoxication, the efficacy of clear lung cough.The plant of Gelsemium elegans belongs to family Loganiaceae and genus Gelsemium, which is bitter, slightly acrid, and a virulent poison drug. There are three species in the world, two from North American,one from China which are mainly distributed Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Guizhou, Yunnan and other places.In this thesis, we made systemic phytochemical studies on A. salicifolia and G. elegans, the former was collected from Qinghai province and the latter was collected from Fujian province. Consequently, by means of silica Gel column chromatography, Sephadex LH-20, preparative thin layer chromatography (PTLC), MCI chromatography, medium pressure column chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Sixty compounds from A. salicifolia and twenty compounds from G. elegans were isolated. The structures of57compounds from A. salicifolia and17compounds from G. elegans were elucidated by spectroscopic methods (HRESIMS, EIMS,1H and13C NMR, DEPT,1D-NOE,1H-1H COSY, HSQC, HMBC, IR, UV, and CD) and in combination with comparison to the literature data or authentic samples. Among them, seven new compounds were elucidated as7-(3’,4’-dihydroxybenzene)-2,3-dimethoxy-1,4-naphthalene,5,7-dihydroxy-6,8-dimethoxy-2H-benzopyran-2-one,7-((E)-3’,7’,7’-trimethylocta-2’,6’-dienyloxy)-6,8-dime-thoxy-2H-chromen-2-one,(7R,8R)-3,3’-dimethoxy-8,4’-oxyneoligna-4,7,9,9’-tetraol,2α,3β,7β,19α-tetra-hydroxy-24-norurs-4(23),12-dien-6-one-28-oic acid,2α,3β,7β,19α-tetrahydroxy-24-norurs-4(23),12-dien-6-one-28-oic acid,2α,3β-dihydroxy-24-norurs-4(5),12-dien-6-one-30-oic acid. In this thesis, we made a review on the bio-activitives of the phenolic compounds.This thesis will provide a scientific basis for the research on chemical constituents as well as structure-activites relationship and new drug screening. And It also can be helpful for the development and utilization of natural product resources in our country.
