Chorus Art is one of the oldest and the most important western art forms. It close relates to western culture,politics, history,literae humaniores and so on. Moreover, it was one of the most crucial tools of spirit in the process of religion’s development. Western classical chorus has achieved great evolution from monophonic vocal solo to homophonic chorus through its early research and development(this article mainly talks about the age from ancient Greece, ancient Rome to the Renaissance).Meanwhile, its development accelerates the progress of many subjects such as the skills of compose music, Polyphony,Incidental music,Aesthetics of Music,Vocal music,Acoustics,Instrumental music, Literature,Poesy and so on.To some extent,the early western Chorus Art is one of the most significant headsprings and motivities of the western music art’s development.This article is divided into three parts to discuss the topic:Chapterl: Expound the primary aesthetic traits of Chorus Art in the age of ancient Greece and ancient Rome.It discusses the close relationship between Chorus Art and mythologies by talking about Chorus Art and mythologies,the course of Chorus during this period and some philosophers’aesthetic views.Chapter2:Expound the primary aesthetic traits of Chorus Art during the middle ages.It discusses that as the result of human and religion’s aethestic standard,Homophonic’s development is necessary with the monophonic extensive evolution. It talks about this topic from three aspects,including the relationship between Chorus Art and Homophonic, the course of Chorus during this period and some philosophers’aesthetic views.Chapter3:Expound the primary aesthetic traits of Chorus Art during the Renaissance. It analyses Chorus Art by talking about Chorus Art and the Renaissance,the course of Chorus during this period and some philosophers’aesthetic views.During this period,singing and praising humanity,pursuing the liberation of composers’personalities,expressing personal emotions had become social mainstreams. Chorus Art not only maintained the traditional style of homophonic chorus,but also syncretized the personalities and personal emotions of composers.The invention of pastoral was the best evidence and the inevitable product of the Chorus Art’s development that affected by the aesthetic standards during this period.We’ll find that Chorus Art has different aesthetic characters in different times by talking about it during above three different ages. Seemingly they were separate,but actually, Chorus Art realized its beauty by chasing harmonious sounds which was its final aesthetic criteria After all,Chorus Art is art for a group of people. Harmoniousness is always the composers’pursuit.No matter for the simple monophonic vocal solo in ancient Greece and ancient Rome or for the real religionary homophonic chorus,even for the omophonic chorus art which had become more mature gradually and syncretized personal emotions of composers in the Renaissance,the cores of Chorus Art’s development were all the harmonious sounds, unitive voice parts and the feelings of lyrics.Of course,it also had close relationships with the cultures, nations, tracts,religions,literae,humaniores,education,the onceptions of music,the skills of compose,philosophy views, aesthetic views and so on.
