There is no direct contact of the surface between the martial arts novels of Jin Yong’s "Eight Dragon Buddha" and the famous ancient Greek tragedy "Oedipus". However, if we have prototype analysis on the "Eight Dragon Buddha",then we can see their deep internal consistency through the great differences in surface of the two works:that the implicit in the "Eight Dragon Buddha" is similar to the prototype of the Oedipus tragedy, but they both have their own characteristics. Oedipus is a hero to compete with his own destiny, while Xiao Feng is a hero to compete with the great social environment and Confucian ethics, and they have common is this:they have been trying to change the fate of their own actions. But their end results are form a part in the fate of their ownself, they could not escape the fate. This thesis have three chapters, and attempt to compare and interpret the two works in following three aspects:First, describe the background of the two works from the entire social environment.Second, put the Chinese and Western culture as a starting point, compare the attitude on outlook on life and values under the background of the traditional Chinese Confucian culture and the ancient Greek culture, and the two cultures impact on their fate. Finally, found the same spirit by analysis the two cultures.Third, by comparison of the characters in the two works,to arrive at the consistency between the two. This part is divided into three parts:the same tragedy of birth, the same destructivity and the same lofty. The root of this consistency is as following:the tragedy of Xiao Feng’ reason is the confliction between Han culture and Alien culture, the trend of society destructed him step by step, his tragedy is a social tragedy. The reasons of Oedipus’s tragedy are the irresistible oracle and the arranged destiny, he was the victim of his father’s sins of the victim, and also the sacrificial lamb of fate’tragedy, even if the resistance is futile.
