The Comparison Of The Life Connotation Of Original Totem In China And The Occident

The original totem is one of the oldest culture and art forms in the world. The totemism system is the rudiment of religion. During the early social production and life, the original settlers ascribe their origin to the extraordinary power of totem animals and plants, which based on the original magic and imagination. This has led to the creativity of this magic art unconsciously and left the clue footprints for the posterity to pursue through this art of totem culture. The occurrence, development, contents and forms have been incarnating the pulsation and rhythm of life all the time, which has reflected the original settlers’early values of life noumenon and the exploring and exceeding of the infinite possibility of life. But, on the other hand, because of the differences of regional characteristics and culture backgrounds, the totem worship and totem art have shown different contents and forms in China and the occident, which has reflected the original settlers’ different locations on the value of the life noumenon in China and the occident. Based on these, this article takes the theory perspective of the Life Aesthetics and the Anthropology of Literature and Art to reorganize the original totems and the totem art of China and the occident, and take an analysis of the different life awareness that showed by them. On the searching of their similarities about life cognition, it hopes to show the different life connotations that reflected by their different totems and totem arts.
