Works Of Malaysian Chinese Writers Of New Generation And The Post-colonial Context

The South-east Asian Chinese Literature is an important part of the overseas Chinese Literature. It has an obvious and strong local characteristic which is really distinctive. Meanwhile, the Malaysian Chinese Literature is also the important part of South-east Asian Chinese Literature. With the Malaysian Chinese writers of new generation stepping onto the historical stage and becoming the advancers of the Malaysian Chinese Literature world, their works arouse more and more attentions from the public. Among the launched researches, most of them are limited to analysis of just only one writer or one version, or they just give a simple summary and elaboration of some common literature features. Most of them didn’t go deep into the texture of Malaysian Chinese writers’works to make a comprehensive grasp and study. The thesis strives to reveal the rich cultural connotation of the works of Malaysian Chinese writers of new generation by placing them under the complex background of post-colonial on the basic of the existing study achievements. The thesis uses the relevant theories of post-colonial Cultural Critics and the New Historicism for reference, combining the cultural analyzing and careful reading, and use the way of cultural analyzing to make a conclusion for literature. There are four parts in this thesis. The first part is to make the conception clear. It will summarize the works of Malaysian Chinese writers of new generation and make a general collation of the development of the post-colonial theory and other relevant theories. Second, it will analysis the influences that the developments and the transformation of "Ethnic politics" bring to the works of Malaysian Chinese writers of new generation under the social history background of Malaysia. Third, it will also sum up the main features, causes and the trend in development of their works from three aspects concluding the developments and the transformation of "Homeland" imagination, the aesthetic style of "Dispersion" and historical reconstruction which have involved the themes that appear a lot in their works, which are the outstanding features of their versions and embody their Philosophical thinking for their country, history, nation, life and the world. Last, it will point out the different inevitable influences for the Malaysian Chinese writers of new generation in the big language environment, and it try hard to create a new world for the Malaysian Chinese literature and a new historical memory for the Malay. The thesis will also figure out the current situation and the outlook of their facing challenges and opportunities under such a big background.
