Research On Images Of Female Chinese Of Yan Geling’s New Emigrant Fictions Based On Classification

As a leader in the field of new Chinese emigrant literature, Yan Geling pays constant attention to Chinese female migration’s living conditions of heterogeneous society and cultural space in her new Chinese emigrant fictions. This is an important aesthetic orientation.The introduction of this paper summarizes the foreign and domestic research situation, clarifies the significance and techniques, and introduces the history of new emigrant fictions. Reviewers do not pay enough attention to the classification study of Chinese female images, whether they analysis ideological content and artistic form of Yan Geling’s new emigrant fictions, using post-colonial criticism、psychoanalytic criticism、new historicism criticism, etc. There are three aspects in the significance of the topic:the first point is a classification of Chinese female images of Yan Geling’s new emigrant fictions and a comparison of the three types of images, which include early Chinese women、native women and new emigrant women; the second point is author’s view of female and emigrant experience, and the influence on her creation; the third point makes a summary of characteristics of female writing in Yan Geling’s new emigrant fictions, meanwhile, we make a comparison between Yan Geling and Amy Tan. This article mainly uses text-close-reading、post-colonial criticism and feminist criticism. In addition, the development of new emigrant fictions is outlined, and overseas Chinese student literature is considered to be the source of new emigrant literature.The first chapter analyzes Fusang which represents early Chinese women. Fusang is a prostitute who is abducted. Although she is a slave, she is very strong. In the opinion of Chris who is a white man, she becomes Goddess.The second chapter analyzes Cui and Yingying who representative of native women. Cui chooses to keep moral concept and values of Chinese culture; Yingying chooses to resist traditional and accept western culture. Unfortunately, they both do not achieve their initial purpose, so native women are constantly looking for their position conservatism and liberalism.The third chapter analyzes heroines of Red Skirt and Brown Hair. Haiyun is the heroine of Red Skirt, who belongs to her husband. As a good wife, a lonely mother and a outsider who is excluded, Haiyun belongs to her husband, so she does not have a free and independent living. The heroine of Brown Hair is a student who comes from mainland China, and she is under repression of white man、ma、capital and language when she is struggling to live in this country. The fourth chapter makes a comparison of the three types of images. They have in common that they are marginal people and they have more or less female characteristics. The differences are their personalities and female consciousness. According to the three types of images, we can see a development process of Chinese women’s female consciousness.The fifth chapter analyzes causes of the writer’s creation. The writer’s view of female and emigrant experience have an affect on her creation. Yan Geling points out that the most important part for women are female characteristics of which the highest level is maternity. Female characteristics are the most original part of women, It means the lack of human nature, if female characteristics are repressed. Emigrant experience lead to significant changes of the writer’s worldview and aesthetics.The conclusion includes two parts. The first part summarizes female writing characteristics of Yan Geling’s new emigrant fictions, from ideological content to artistic features. The second part makes a comparison between Yan Geling and Amy Tan, whose feminist standpoint and means of expression are different.
