The Study Of Application Of Lotus Pattern In Fashion Design

Lotus pattern is a typical pattern in a variety of decorative patterns in China, Lotuspattern occupies a very important position in China’s long history because of its richvariety of shape and unique aesthetic connotations. Lotus pattern had not been widely usedbefore the introduction of Buddhism to China. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, as aBuddhism’s important decoration pattern, Lotus pattern began to flourish and get abreakthrough and development in the Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties afterBuddhism spread to our country through the Western Regions. The typical lotus pattern didnot appear in the apparel and textiles before the Tang Dynasty. The lotus pattern appearedgradually in the design of clothing decorative starting from the Tang Dynasty. As a clothingdecoration pattern, the lotus pattern is utilized gradually after the Tang Dynasty, the lotuspattern of clothing developed well In the Song and Yuan dynasties, The Louts patterndeveloped best in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.This paper analyzes the sources of the history of the lotus pattern,and reveals thecultural connotation of the lotus pattern in the development of Chinese history. Throughthe extensive physical inspection and collection of pictures, I sum up form features of thelotus pattern on the dress in various historical periods in China and general situation ofapplication of Lotus pattern in modern garment design. Finally I have a deeperunderstanding of design rules of lotus pattern in fashion design through a combination ofmy own creative ideas. Through research in a Lotus pattern in modern dress, we can notonly unify the traditional culture and idea of the fashion design idea but also enhance thetraditional culture,and make traditional Lotus pattern to be accepted by modern people,and Will carry forward our traditional lotus pattern.
