In the past few decades, people increase emphasis on creativity study. Which affect the cognitive processes and produce of creative thinking has become a research hotspot. We often find in a relaxed environment, people have more creative output. However, in the stressful situation, the creativity will be affected. How external stress effect on individual, and then work on creative outputs is a valuable question. According this question, we carried on series of experiments. This thesis consists of three parts:The first part is the background and literature review, including definitions, research methods, and impact of creativity and stereotype threat effect. The second part includes three experiments.Experiment1activated two negative stereotypes simultaneously, and explored the impact of stereotype on creative output, and the difference of a single and double stereotype effects on creativity. The result suggests that the presentation of stereotypes will inspire individual’s creativity. Especially while simultaneous presented two stereotypes, individual will use more cognitive resources to achieve better performance in certain evaluation dimensions.Experiment2activated gender and degree stereotypes using obvious and subtle cues, and tried to find out what impact the significant and subtle threaten clues would be on creative output, and whether the mechanism consists with the model. The study found that compare to the obvious stereotype threat cues, present subtle stereotype threat cues will increase individual’s creative output. Especially while showing two subtle stereotype threat cues at same time, the creative output was the lowest. There was an interaction between the academic stereotype and gender stereotype threat cues presentation.Experiment3using EAST experimental procedures to measure the degree and gender stereotypes, and discuss the relationship of female college students’self-classification on creative output. The author shows one major finding, there is a relationship between participants’differences on female versus college student accessibility task and creative output under the stereotype threat condition. There was a significant negative correlation between self-classification and creative output. The third part is the general discussion. With research background, through the integration and induction experiments obtained that stereotype threat cues and presentation affect cognitive, emotional load and distraction, thus affecting the individual’s creative output. And self-classification and Stereotype threat related.
