This thesis will trail the way of the life of Henderson in America and Africa, through the intensive reading of the text, analyzing the self-confliction andself-integration of Henderson. At the same time, this thesis further investigates thedynamics and variety of self-exploration, hoping to get a further research ofself-consciousness.This thesis is mainly divided into three chapters:The first chapter points out the question of Henderson’s self-confliction,discussing the performance and reasons. Henderson’s self-confliction behaves as: hequestions who he is; he does not know what he wants; he can not integrate with thepeople around. All of these make him confused and suffering. The reason is thatHenderson’s inner-confliction is caused from individual senses digesting in the worldof objects. In an environment filling with uncertainties, the balance and stability aredisrupted, and then, worry, anxiety and even panic emerge. Individual, individual withothers and individual with society, are all full of contradiction. The second chapter discusses Henderson solving self-confliction, mainlyillustrating Henderson’s self-integration in the world of objects. Henderson’sself-confliction is not the loss of self, but the wake of self-awareness. He always takesthe active actions, tries his best to find the significance and value of self. He knows alot in actions, and finds the psychological experience only for himself again. Hebegins to think over himself in the past, think over the relationship between himselfwith others and the society. Finally, he finds himself, finds what he wants, and findsthe meeting point between people’s changes and the changes of the object world.Contractions are resolving. Henderson’s self is on the way towards perfectionconstantly; excitement and happiness take the place of confusion and panic. The third chapter discusses further about the self-question, mainly talking aboutthe dynamics and variety of self-exploration. Henderson experiences a procedurefrom confusion to consciousness. In fact, the self-exploration of each individual is acontinuous and dynamic procedure; life is going on, and so is self-exploration.Besides, each individual will possess a self-exploration procedure of his own, becauseeach individual faces different object world, experience, inner feelings and innerconfusion. So self-exploration is featured by diversity. Owing to that, each individualshould take an active action, find his own way of self-exploration, find thesignificance and value of oneself, and then make it perfect gradually.
