As one form of the public arts, indicating the characteristics of thepublic art mostly, the Urban Sculpture appears in the city’s art space moreand more. As a special branch of sculpture art, it has become a part partof the city, containing element of “city”.Because it not only has generalcharacteristics of the sculpture, but also plays a role in expressing thecity’s function and formal features. Meanwhile the Urban Sculpture canraise the qualities of the public space, improve the city’s environment, express its cultural and spiritual connotation and make its image. The urban public space is a place where the city’s landscapes arecomposed, where the people spend their leisure time out of work.Presenting the charm of the city, the urban public space is also a concretereflection of the people’s living quality and plays an important role in thedevelopment of the city’s history and culture. The urban sculpture islocated in the public space. Both they complement each other, supplement each other. They have the public character in common. In the article I would discuss the relation between the urban sculpture and the public space, analyze how they influence and costricteach other, through the external reletions—visual appearance andinternal relations—the culture connotation by the way of great deal ofexamples. I think the urban sculpture must go with the development ofthe society and times, comform the urban space environment, the city’sdistinguishing feature on the basis of “taking human as foundation”. Iwith what I discuss in the article would have some reference value for thedevelopment of the urban sculpture in the public space and improve itsquality.
