Duyou’s Huainan Office Of A Commanding General And Literature Activity Study

DuYou’s Huainan office of a commanding general is one of the most prosperous offices in mid-Tang Dynasty. It has the largest number of civil aides that have literary talent will be transferred to imperial court in the future and become the main force of the country. And even, DuYou’s term of office is very rare for long time on the whole history of Tang Dynasty which achieve15years. Because of these special points, I tried to carry out the research on this area.There are four parts of A Study on DuYou’s Huainan Office of a Commanding General and Literature. The first chapter is called system of office of a commanding officer and Huainan office of a commanding officer in Tang Dynasty which analyses the special points of DuYou’s Huainan Office of a Commanding General through historical data which is in Dezong times. The second chapter is A Textual Research on Civil Service among Aides in DuYou’s Huainan Office of a Commanding Officer. My research is based on Mr. Dai’s work to supplement four people which are DuJian, FuZai, LuoXiang and Quan Deyu to complete the research data in this area. Chapter three mainly discusses literary activities in DuYou’s Huainan office of a commanding officer. This part is the most important in my thesis. It is divided into two parts:Office of a commanding officer and historiography and Office of a commanding officer and literature. The second part is the focal point, I classify the literary works, then list in the chart to use the data demonstrated. Furthermore, I summarize the main characteristics of literature in office of a commanding officer and point out the influences from the main aides of the YuanHe literary world. The last chapter is discussesing the bi-directional influence between the life in Jiangnan and literary creations from literati. They live in Yangzhou and the other places of regions south of the Yangtze River, this experience becomes a material factor to affect their creativities. Southern environment influences the literati, in the meantime, literati reflects the environment, they produce a two-way role to each other.The innovations of this paper are concerned about the basic literature of DuYou’s Huainan office of a commanding officer in the mid-Tang Dynasty, summarize the main characteristics of literature in office of a commanding officer. These efforts add some material for future research. Secondly, replenishing textual research about four aides to complete the research data in this area, they are DuJian, FuZai, LuoXiang and Quan Deyu. Last but not the least, a strong atmosphere of Jiangnan inspires literary man who live there, they turn this feeling into the writings all together which passes in each of the literary output. So, we can appreciate the subtle influence of culture and literature today.
