Ye Guohui Late Autumn Composition Techniques Research

Doctor Ye Guohui, as a professor,composition department head and graduate tutor ofShanghai Conservatory of Music, is one of the most famous young composers in China nowadays.Mr.Ye has his unique idea in composition and music style. In2007, his representative work LateAutumn for Orchestra won an award for the European Composing Prize, which was the only prizeof the commissioned works in European Classical Music Festival of the youth, held by German.The work has its own characteristics on texture, pitches, orchestration and appreciation. Whileusing the musical form, structure and composing skill of western traditional music, the workcombines with characteristic and aesthetic pursuit of eastern folk music.This thesis is to analyzeLate Autumn for Orchestra in morphology perspective and focused on oriental musicfactors,research its line-shaped texture, pitch organization, tone color of orchestration and themusical forms. Then, in a macroscopic view, it analyzes how the composing skills be used in thispiece. Finally, it finds out how these skills, combined as musical structure and emotions, work formusical aesthetics..Thus, this thesis tries to offer some experiences and examples in the creativetechnique and musical ideas for modern Chinese composers, who are trying their best to combineChinese and western style in their works.
