Along with the rapid development of multimedia technology, the multimedia-assisted English teaching as a new modern English teaching technology has been widely used. Multimedia teaching could effectively arouse the learning interests of students and fully mobilize the initiative and enthusiasm of students, thus, the learning result could be improved and teaching efficiency could be raised.The College English Curriculum Requirements issued by State Education Ministry, specify that "colleges and universities should remould the existing unitary teacher-centered pattern of CET (College English Teaching) by introducing new teaching models with the help of multimedia and network technology", which indicates the importance of English multimedia teaching.Based on Scaffolding Instruction the thesis with a case study intends to analyze the real status of multimedia-assisted English listening teaching in English major of Inner Mongolia Normal University Honder College and figure out existing problems, eventually give some suggestions.The present thesis employs questionnaires, interviews and class observation as researching means to investigate the teaching status among teachers and students in Inner Mongolia Normal University Honder College with multimedia-assisted listening teaching. Through the study, the writer collects and displays the relevant data and investigates the attitudes and application of multimedia by teachers and students of English major in multimedia English listening classroom and finds out deficiency in multimedia listening teaching. According to existing problems, feasible ways to solve problems are raised, which might give an empirical reference for multimedia English listening teaching in Independent Colleges.
