Today’s people are very familiar with the word of "liberty", liberty is a kind of the ultimate value principle of human being, and its intrinsic value is very precious for each person. But, what is liberty? What are the characteristics and value of liberty? Why do we need liberty, or what are the foundations of the existence of liberty? For these problems, the academic community has been ambiguous scene and unable to agree on which is right. Hayek is the greatest liberal thinkers in twentieth century; he cannot leave the analysis and research of the problem. His decades become an author to pursue a central goal is to comprehensively explain and defend human freedom, so he systematically inspects the" liberty " and especially reviews it on aspects of the theory of knowledge, in order to achieve the correct understanding. For insight into the soul of all of Hayek’s thought of theory—liberty, we proposed the political philosophy perspective, and follow the logic route of Hayek’s answer about the above questions r to develop a system analysis.Therefore, this essay clarifies that he expounds and proves the basis and value of liberty of the choroid from the following three aspects:firstly, systematically carding Hayek interprets the connotation and value of liberty. From the background and theoretical origin of Hayek’s thought of liberty, and clarify his stands for liberty of specific content and its characteristics and value, finally, return to he analyzes the intrinsic value, instrumental value and basic value of liberty, highlight the value motivation of the existence of liberty. Secondly, clarifying Hayek expounds and proves the foundation of the existence of liberty. Above all, analyze the insights of his about as a person of social existence and his critique of false individualism, explore and analyze the meaning of his true individualism, summarize his methodological individualism is the necessity foundation of the existence of liberty; In the next place, focused on the analysis of his" the inevitable ignorance" and individual limited rationality of profound insight, summarize his concept of the individual limited rationality is the essential foundation of the existence of liberty; Finally, through the investigation of Hayek’s spontaneous order theory, explore and analyze his explanation of conclusion about the indispensability of liberty, or the necessarian foundation of the existence of liberty. Thirdly, evaluating Hayek’s concept of liberty based on the fact. Protrude its view of liberty innovation and contribution in comparison, and seek the truth from analysis of his theoretical limitations.
