The cultural characteristics of the imagery in Lu You’s poem mainly performance in three aspects:social-cultural characteristic, geographical and cultural characteristic and the character trait of the poet. The former one which shows in politics、aesthetics and ethos has a great influence on both of the choice and meanings of the images. For the poet, the life of years of roaming leaves impression in his poetic images, such as "Jiang Nan" and "Xi Shu". Lu You has a bold and uninhibited character, with the fusion of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, the poetic image performs a kind of combination of broad mind and distress.The imagery of "moon" in Lu You’s poetry can be classified into two different types: the quiet one and the desolate one. It demonstrates the poet’s pursuit to the peace of soul, and also reflects his unshakable sense of the national responsibility. Firstly, the image of "wild goose" is a symbol of the desire for freedom; secondly, it hints the transmission of information of enemy-occupied area, what’s more, it displays the lonely feeling of Lu You. The imagery of "snow" reflects his concern to the farming lifestyle, secondly, it symbolizes the care to the farmer, thirdly, It symbolizes the cultivation of the poet’s Self-purify. The one hand,"candle" shows that it’s his elegant pleasure and broad mind to life, the other hand, it also shaped an art world filled with darkness solitude and sadness. Lu’s poetic image plays role in promoting the development of the poetic imagery.
