This paper firstly elaborated on the concept and type characteristics of medical drama. Medical drama shows doctors’work-life in a panoramic view which extends narration about doctors curing illness and saving patients and conflicts between doctors and patients under the background of hospital. It keeps doctors’curing illness and saving patients as the core, and subjects the theme of respect and love for people and life, but it discusses how to protect life dignity through different circumstances and understandings to life differences, not inspires cherishing life and protecting health through patients’ suffering.Chinese medical drama has the traces of imitating and learning from U.S. drama for two reasons:Firstly,American drama’s commercial aesthetic principles make medical drama written in a typed, can-be-looked principle, which undoubtedly require higher quality for drama objectively.Secondly,it makes up inadequate for industrial drama, and shows collective image of a industry. And it shows that the mental outlook of the whole industry is the soft underbelly of Chinese TV drama. The medical drama’s development can fill the deficiency, and provide the learning copied for other types of industry drama. This paper treated medical television show as the object of study, explored how such a foreign product transplanted in the locals to meet the aesthetic needs of the Chinese audience and how to survive and develop better in a new cultural context and provided a new idea and research direction for the current Chinese dram creation.
