Toni Morrison is a great African American female writer in the history of American literature. Her third novel Song of Solomon displays her complex cultural standpoints. This article will analyze the complexity of her cultural standpoints in three chapters. Chapter One will display Morrison’s cultural standpoints reflected from the main characters to show the cultural crisis and problems faced by the African Americans; Chapter Two will discuss Morrison’s metaphorical way to help the African Americans out of their dilemma; Chapter Three will show the thinking and confusion of the writer to the African American traditional culture and her deep concerns to the future of the African Americans on the undetermined end of flight in the novel. All these chapters are attributed to the central topic of the article--to discourse on the complexity of the writer’s cultural standpoints.
