Study On The Students Abroad In Gansu In Modern Times

In modern (1840-1949), there were many nationalities and warlords in Gansu province, which located in the frontier. Under the influence of complex factors, Gansu province with less number of returned students. The returned students in Gansu province had not exact numbers. By sorting out relative historical materials of Gansu province, the author gets from1906to1949there was97native students in Gansu province. Taking the modern Gansu students abroad as a group, the author makes first more comprehensive integrity of study. And according to the difference of concept of modern returned students in Gansu province, the research object is only limited to Gansu students abroad. Then, the author takes Gansu returned students in the background of the movement of studying abroad and Sino-foreign cultural exchange to study the political background that Gansu province sent the students to study, and also studies the family situations of Gansu students, and finds that most were scholarly families and family conditions were relatively good. At the same time, the author studies the influence factors of studying abroad from the era and education background. Through the environment the modern Gansu students sent and the policy local government sent, which shows that at the time of Gansu province lagged behind in northwest China paid attention to the students education.At the meantime, the author finds that there were obvious distribution differences in the Gansu returned students, which concentrated in Tianshui, Baiyin, Dingxi and Lanzhou four regions, and then the author makes an in-depth study on the reason. Gansu students studying in Japan and the United States were more than the other countries, and the returned students were men in great proportion except for two women. Legal and education were the main professions which the students abroad choosed. The paper focuses on the influence to Gansu modern society when the students returned, and summed up that the modern Gansu students made outstanding contribution on the cultural and educational undertakings in Gansu province, and they also had certain effect on politic and economy.
