Liszt was a great composer and pianist of the19th century in Europe, his life had created a lot of pianoworks, known as “the king of the piano” for its virtuosity and symphonic. The same time, Liszt hadprofound literary and philosophical accomplishment, he had not only extensive knowledge of music, butalso good at absorbing nutriments from the other works of art.Piano area is an important area of Liszt,the piano adapted work occupied an outstanding position.Liszt’s piano transcriptions had a wide range and multi-genre, full of artistic individuality, and made a greatcontribution to promoting the development of the piano art of the Romantic period. On the one hand, itplayed the role to promoting the composer, at the time, many of the composer’s repertoire really known bypeople through Liszt’s adaptation; On the other hand, it broadened the scope of the piano repertoire, Liszt’spiano transcriptions bolded attempt to the depth and difficulty of the skills of piano music performance, notonly enriched the number of piano music library, but also greatly improved the piano’s expressive force."Mephisto Waltz"created in1881, based on the German literary giant Goethe’s drama "Faust" which isa very famous one in the Liszt’s piano transcriptions. Stylistic change has gone through two phases: First,under the influence of Wagner’s orchestral “Faust Overture”, Liszt created the " Faust Symphony "; with therising status of the piano, Liszt adapted the "Faust symphony" into the magnificent piano work "MephistoWaltz ".The entire piano piece describes the emotional entanglements which included Mephisto, Faust andMarguerite in a bustling village bistro."Mephisto Waltz" is one of the prominent representatives of thevirtuoso piano works in the musical skill, Liszt fully tap the potential of the piano,used the "symphonic"thought in the adaptation of the piano works, so that the piano had the force of the band’s performance.Liszt used a lot of skills which have rapid octaves, chords, gorgeous sentences,scales and arpeggiosentences and so on in this piano piece to make the whole song playing skills difficult. In terms ofideological content, every music section of the "Mephisto Waltz" are closely linked with the developmentof "Faust" story. Liszt use of the rapid beat,large span jumping notes, full of strange color tritone to expressdevil Mephistopheles’s evil and arrogant performance of the head, the use of lyrical melody, light andcoherent turn refers to the skills of Faust and Margaret’s love the performance of lingering sweet.In the piano piece, Liszt adapted from the creation to follow the essence of the original literature, but also richermusical language, a more varied texture form for the expression of the spirit of "Faust" icing on the cake,has a strong learning value.The full text is divided into six parts.The introduction part mainly discusses the research of "MephistoWaltz" starting point,meaning and method.The first chapter elucidates the complex historical and cultureenvironment on the creation the effection of Liszt from the nineteenth Century European(history,culturebackgroud)at Liszt’s road of artistic growth..The second chapter introducts "Mephisto Waltz" and literary"Faust" contact from the angle of literation.The third chapter is the main part of the paper,from the aspectsof the body language of music works are studied in the research literature,with correlation basedon,respectively,from the musical form structure,tonality,method,harmony,rhythm and so on research on"Mephisto Waltz" musical language characteristics.The fourth chapter is the analysis of "Mephisto Waltz"artistic value and historical significance,practical significance.The last part is in the first four chapersanalysis based on paper,summarizes the Liszt’s piano "Mephisto Waltz" value and research significance.In this paper, as the era of Liszt’s piano works of creation and cultural background for the startingpoint,as the piano song "Mephisto Waltz" in the study of previous research results and summarize theindividual playing the basis of practice, through the work of musical structure, tone tonality, melody,texture, harmony and rhythm aspects of music language to analyze the "Mephisto Waltz",focusing on musicandcontact the Goethe drama "Faust", an innovative way analysis of the "Mephisto Waltz" from theconnection with music and literary to explore the complex of Liszt’s works of literature and music andliterature integration reflects the unique charm..
