Since the Twentieth Century, humans have been creating rich material wealth by means ofrapid development of science and technology on the base of exploiting natural resourcesceaselessly, however when the splendid material civilization is unfolded in front of us, humanshave destroyed the original nature ecosystem due to the over-exploitation. The conflicts betweenhumans and nature are being exposed gradually, which can be seen in such global ecological crisisas, the destruction of vegetation, water pollution, land desertification, species extinction, resourceexhausted. The worldwide ecological problems are increasingly exasperating and have threatenedthe survival and development of mankind, which force us to face ecological crisis and rethink ofthe relationship between humans and nature. On the issue, two camps have emerged in the fieldof ecological ethics, namely anthropocentrism and non-anthropocentrism.There is always a furious and endless disputation between anthropocentrism andnon-anthropocentrism. As for the various rebuke from non-anthropocentrism to anthropocentrism, this article shows different views, aiming to have an all-around and clear recognition on thedevelopment process of anthropocentrism from different perspectives and multi layers. First of all,to get to know the basic status of anthropocentrism from the relevant concepts, ideological origin, development process and historical forms; secondly, to have a clear idea about anthropocentrismfrom the relationship between humans and nature; to apply Marxist natural dialectics to analyzingand revealing the relationship between humans and nature, pointing out the mistaken cognition ofnon-anthropocentrism on that, and illustrating the root cause of the mistaken cognition is thatnon-anthropocentrism neither view the relationship between humans and nature from practice, norrecognize the double character of humans and nature; thirdly, to summarize the rebuke and criticism from non-anthropocentrism to anthropocentrism, and analyze the rebuke and criticism tofind out the root cause, eliminating the misunderstanding and mistaken cognition onanthropocentrism so as to understand anthropocentrism more clearly and accurately. Finally, to focus on analyzing the root cause of ecological crisis, because it is an inevitableproblem in ecological ethics as well as a most important problem urgently required to be settled byhumans, what’s more, it is also the most direct and fundamental problem in the disputationbetween non-anthropocentrism and anthropocentrism. The article analyzes the root cause of theecological crisis comprehensively and objectively. Ecological crisis is a complex issue, the causeswhy it takes place can come down to human’s subjective reasons as well as the objective reasonsof the earth ecosystem itself. We cannot simply formulate anthropocentrism as the root cause; then, the article makes a thorough analysis of the nature of the ecological crisis, and has a correctunderstanding of it. On this basis, Modern Anthropocentrism is highly recommended. ModernAnthropocentrism is what anthropocentrism develops in modern society, it is a scientific value, and bears identical value principle with sustainable development. It can be viewed as the basis ofsustainable development of ecological ethics, guiding humans’ practice of environment protection, improving environment situation, realizing the harmonious and sustainable development betweenhumans and nature.
