Yu Dafu’s Novels And Jiang Nan Culture

There are many researches on Yu Dafu’s novels among various types of Yu Dafu’s works, with its novels of most influent. However, this paper analyzes the style of his novels and his life as well as discovers the contents of Jiang Nan Culture in his novels based on Jiang Nan Culture by Yu Dafu’s life investigation and the novel reading on the former researches.There are four parts of the paper. The introduction mainly presents researches on Yu Dafu and Jiang Nan Culture. The first chapter details the concept of Jiang Nan Culture and the relations between modern literature and Jiang Nan Culture, so as to explore its influence on Yu Dafu. The second chapter, based on Yu Dafu’s novel, explains obvious tendency of soft aesthetic exhibited by the landscape image, the characters and languages of his novels, which is exactly the concrete manifestation of the characteristic of "water" in his text. The third chapter tells the story of Yu Dafu’s novel of focusing on "self" emotional telling,"spirit and body" conflict of characterization, and decadent ideas hermit’s feeling, which are definitely related to the characteristics of Jiang Nan Culture.
