The Evolution And The Significance Of The Of Cao Cao’s Figure

Cao Cao, an influential yet controversial historical figure, haslong been commented and evaluated variously and a consensus onhim is hardly reached, leaving a definite evaluation of him yet to bemade. Historically, the evaluation of the Cao Cao has never divergedfrom the values of the times. In other words, different ethicalrequirements in different times created different understandings of CaoCao. From the real Cao Cao in history to today’s comments on him, itcan be seen that Cao Cao’s image has changed due to thedevelopment of history and the change of the values. Theinterpretation of the evolution of the image of Cao Cao as well as theanalysis the underlying social and ethical changes from the ethicalperspective can help us to have a deeper analysis of the real image ofCao Cao which can thus help us to understand how traditional cultureinfluences humans’ thought during the process of its inheritance. Theevaluation of Cao Cao who is a complicated historical figure should bemade from a muti-perspective of historical, moral and utilitarian to geta fair evaluation acceptable for most people.This paper is composed by the preface, four chapters and theconclusion. The preface summarized the purpose, significance of thestudy, the present research status at home and abroad as well as theresearch methods. In the five chapters the historical view of Cao Cao’s image, Cao Caos image in the novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms"and Cao Cao’s image in Gao Xixi’s new version of "Three Kingdoms"were discussed by turns. The ethical significance of the evolution of CaoCao’s image was also concluded. The first three chapters summarizedthe objective materials based on which additional analysis was made.In the fourth chapter, the author carried out the ethical analysis of thecontents in the first three chapters. By comparing the novel "Romanceof the Three Kingdoms" and the new TV series of "Three Kingdoms", theauthor studied the evolution of Cao Cao’s and the underlying ethicsand values in different historical periods that influence the evolution ofCao Cao’s image. In the conclusion part, the author introduces thegains in writing this article and the deficiencies that need to beimproved.The image of Cao Cao, the novel "Romance of the ThreeKingdoms” and even the new TV series of " Three Kingdoms " are usuallytaken as the theme of the literature study and yet the analysis from theethical perspective in philosophy is rather rare. Due to the complexity ofthe image of Cao Cao, this study follows the context of historicaldevelopment and integrates the evaluations of Cao Caos image indifferent periods to discuss the ethical thinking of the evolution CaoCaos image in the process of historical development. The objective ofthe analysis is to explore the ethical spirit of the times and the nationalspirit and further shed some light on how to reasonably and impartiallyanalyze the historical figures and historical events in the future research.
