There are richness and diversities on word’s catagory standards in Chinese. Based on a large number of corpus, the thesis referentes concerned research results, selectes the point view of "Gender Identity", collects many nouns with characteristics of sexual orientation, and concludes the concept of gender identity word and gender identity noun. The thesis stresses the synchronic level and the diachronic level, and explains the concept of "Gender Identity Noun" In all aspects based on the method of comparative analysis.The thesis is divided into six charpters:The first charpter is introduction, which can be divided into four parts. Firstly, some basic concepts are defined, such as physical sex, social sex, and gender identity noun; Secondly, topic backgrounds are introduced and the significance is discussed from another four parts; Thirdly, the concerned research status are detailed described; Finally, research methods and corpus resource are listed.The second charpter is about catagory system of gender identity noun. This charpter divids three angles, gender identity morpheme’s position in semantics, syntactic function and gender identity noun, to grasp the concept of gender identity noun.The third charpter is to suffix of the gender identity noun’s semantic functions and its class of words. After selecting the appellation and making the representative words’ semantic change and class of words’ suffix trend as entry point, such as grandfather, grandmother, sister-in-law, older sister, elder sister, older brother and elder brother, the semantic functions’change of gender identity noun.The forth charpter is concerning the development mode of gender identity noun’s meaning. Meaning generalization, alienation and polymerization are catagorized with examples.The fifth charpter is about the new words in gender identity nouns. The first part is discussing the four ways to generate new words and the next part is discussing the motivation that creation of new words should be followed.The last charpter discusses the gender identity nouns comparatively. The gender identity nouns in Mandarin and dialects are comparatively researched, and "gender identity" in Chinese and "sex" in French are also discussed.
