The language switching in comprehension refers that bilingual individuals understands the material which contains two or more languages. But the discussion of the processing mechanism of language switching in language comprehension isn’t consistence. Indeed, the reason of the situation of the non-target language in language switching isn’t consistence. The role of non-target language is very important in the research of the processing mechanism of language switching in comprehension. There are some problems in the research of the processing of non-target language. For example, there is no clearly language level and the strategy which subject will be used in experiment. So we will take event-related potential technique and indirect priming paradigm to investigate the situation of the non-target language in vocabulary level and meaning level respectively, further more, we will probe the mode of switching costs. The two experiments are2×2mixed experimental design. The first dependent variable is the style of non-target word, the proficiency language, the unskilled language; the second dependent variable is the type of the pair words, related to the non-target language, unrelated to the non-target language. We think that if the non-target word is activated, it will promote the pair word, So that the differences between the kinds of the pair words are exited. If the non-target word isn’t activated, the differences also aren’t existed. The results showed that:(1) In the vocabulary level, non-target languages are not activated no matter which switching direction.(2) In the meaning level, non-target languages are activated no matter which switching direction.
