On The Comparative Study Of Synonymous Monosyllabic-conjunctive And Corresponding Disyllabic-conjunctive With The Same Morpheme

The monosyllabic-conjunctive and corresponding disyllabic-conjunctive arerespectively special in the field of synonyms in the modern Chinese language, whichis the major research in this thesis. These kinds of synonyms involve in notionalwords and functional words, in particular, there are sufficient researches in the field ofthe notional words. However, it is not the same case to the functional words.Therefore, in order to make it perfect, this paper makes further research in theconjunctives of the functional words, that is, the study of synonymousmonosyllabic-conjunctive and corresponding disyllabic-conjunctive with the samemorpheme.Their similarities and differences involve in aspects of phonetics, grammar andvocabulary. The study of them will enhance the research of modern Chinese invarious dimensions, and foster the development of study of Chinese noumenon. Thesekinds of synonymous are also the key point as well as difficult point, especially in thelearning and teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The study therefore, has anapplied value to some extent for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Therefore, the paper tries to compare the meaning of the synonym in thesynchronic and diachronic levels, combining the providing statistics. It willconcentrate on observance to25pairs of monosyllabic-conjunctive and correspondingdisyllabic-conjunctive with the same morphemes, which are chosen from HSKVocabulary for Chinese Capacity and Character Outline in different classes. Moreover,these synonyms have co-explained relationship in Modern Chinese Dictionary. Exceptfor the introduction and conclusion, the paper refers to the three aspects as follows:First, from the aspect of semantics, I have a probe for synonymousmonosyllabic-conjunctive and corresponding disyllabic-conjunctive with the samemorpheme. I try to find their corresponding relationship in form and the explanationsin the Modern Chinese Dictionary. On the basis, I make an analysis and conclusion, which I find there are three ways to compose the synonym withmonosyllabic-conjunctive and corresponding disyllabic-conjunctive. They aresynonymous compounding, the combination of different meanings and additionalaffix.Second, from the aspect of grammar, with the classification comparison method,I make the comparisons of the differences in some fields of synonymousmonosyllabic-conjunctive and corresponding disyllabic-conjunctive, such as theirconnection capability, the position in the sentence, and the limitation of collocation.Also, I make further explanation to the special phenomenon in this section to makesure the comprehensive completeness.Third, from the aspect of pragmatics, the obvious differences betweensynonymous monosyllabic-conjunctive and corresponding disyllabic-conjunctive arethe differences on the stylistic quality, the tone and the components of the syllable,thus highlighting the individuality of the functional words, as well as exposing thedifferences and characteristics of synonymous monosyllabic-conjunctive andcorresponding disyllabic-conjunctive.
